Upgraded Motherboard with Silent TMC2208 Stepper Drivers
The noise of 3D printers can be very annoying as I’ve experienced myself. I even wrote a post on How to Reduce Noise from Your 3D Printer. This upgraded motherboard mostly eliminates this problem. It works non-stop, with noise well under 50db and decelerates your fan.
The TMC2208 ultra silent drivers are self-developed, industrial-graded and are cost-effective so you aren’t paying premiums for premium features.
Smart Filament Run Out Detection
This is a feature we’re seeing in most 3D printers nowadays. Rather than be in the middle of a long print and forget to account for how much filament is left on the spool, this feature will detect when filament has run out.
I remember the days of leaving my printer running and just seeing the nozzle moving over a half-finished print with absolutely no filament coming out. Avoid this experience with the sweet smart detection feature.
Resume Printing Function
Another feature which has saved a few of my prints! Although power outages are rare where I live, it does mean we get them in some cases.
We actually have a weird run of outages, twice in a 3-month period which has never happened in the 15 years I’ve lived here so you never know when this feature will save your print.
As soon as the power turned back on, I resumed the print and my printer returned to it’s last input location and continued to finish off a wonderful, high quality print.
The Ender 3 V2 definitely doesn’t skip out on the necessary, useful features.
Y-Axis 40*40 Aluminum Extrusion
This feature works to increase the overall stability and functionality of the 3D printer. The more sturdy your 3D printer, the better quality you will get because the vibrations ‘looseness’ causes ends up in imperfections in your prints.
The Ender 3 Pro also has this feature.
Easy-to-Use Modern Color Screen InterfaceÂ
This adds to the cosmetic looks of the Ender 3 V2 with a color-rich interface that’s user-friendly. The redesigned interface looks a lot better than the original Ender 3 and makes things a little easier to navigate.
The knob on the Ender 3 gets a little bit jerky so you can easily end up picking the wrong setting or even the wrong print! With the Ender 3 V2 (Amazon) you’ll get a smooth, clean movement on the interface.
XY Axis Injection Tensioner
With the axis injection tensioner, you’ll be able to adjust your belt tension quickly and conveniently. The Ender 3 had a pretty poor method to tighten the belt, where you have to undo the screws, put some tension on the belt with an Allen key, then tightening up the screws while keeping the tension.
Even though it worked, it just wasn’t very convenient, so this is a nice change.
Toolbox Insert
Instead of having to keep your tools around your 3D printer and cluttering up the space, this 3D printer has an integrated toolbox in the machine body. It’s a great move for organization and storage for tending to your prints and doing any maintenance for your printer.
I can’t remember the number of times I’ve looked around for specific tools and this feature solves that problem.
Effortless Filament Feed In
Similar to the belt tensioner, we have a rotary knob which is added onto the printer’s extruder to make filament much easier to load and feed through. These small upgrades add up to make the world of difference in your 3D printing journey.
Carborundum Glass Platform
This amazing surface gives your hot bed the ability to heat up quicker, as well as getting your prints to get good adhesion to the bed.
One of the ideal benefits of this feature is how smooth the finish you’ll get on the first layer. With normal bed surfaces, the finish can be quite mediocre and nothing to get excited about but this one does the job well.
Integrated Compact Design
After much rethinking and optimization the Ender 3 V2 (Amazon) (BangGood) has the power supply concealed within the printer, not only making it safer but making it look much more professional. It has an all-metal body, similar to the Ender 3 and is very firm and stable.
Everything is compact and has its clear purpose and because of this, it’s easy to assemble and maintain.
Fully Upgraded Hotend & Fan Duct
Creality are claiming that they have 30% more efficient cooling, which would make a difference when printing certain materials such as PLA or printing smaller objects. There is a new heating element enclosure which adds seamlessly to the aesthetics of the printer.
V-Profile Pulley
This contributes to the stability, low volume and wear resistance of the 3D printer. It also contributes to the durability so you can ensure long-lasting performance and great prints.
The video below by CHEP goes through these features and some extra useful information that you might find helpful.
Benefits of the Ender 3 V2
- Ultra-silent printing
- Several upgrades from the Ender 3 which make things easier to operate
- Easy to use for beginners, giving out high performance and much enjoyment
- Design and structure look very aesthetically pleasing
- High precision printing
- 5 minutes to heat up
- All-metal body gives stability and durability
- Easy to assemble and maintain
- Power supply is integrated underneath the build-plate unlike the Ender 3
Downsides of the Ender 3 V2
- Bowden extruder instead of Direct-Drive which can be either a benefit or a downside
- Only 1 motor on the Z-axis
- No touchscreen interface like some other modern printers
- BL-Touch is not included
- Glass beds do tend to be heavier so it may lead to ringing in prints
- You’ll have to change PTFE tube to print Nylon
Creality Ender 3 Vs Creality Ender 3 V2
When we look at the original Ender 3, there are many differences, some large some small, but overall, it’s definitely a carefully manufactured, upgraded system
The way Creality develop their printer upgrades is by taking countless feedback from what users have done to upgrade their own printers, then incorporating it into the newest machine without even raising the price as much as they should.
At the same time they have to balance the upgrades & features with the price, so you won’t get everything at such an affordable price.
As the predecessor, they both have many similarities of course but the extra push that the Ender 3 V2 (Amazon) (BangGood) has makes it very worth it to upgrade to. It’s definitely more beginner-friendly.
Based on the Facebook video Creality released about this 3D printer, it should support a BL-Touch upgrade for auto-leveling.
Verdict – Ender 3 V2 Worth Buying Or Not?
Not everyone is part of the team that likes to purchase upgrades and fix it up on their machines. If you’re one of those people, the Creality Ender 3 V2 (Amazon) is the perfect choice to get some of the latest parts and design for their printer.
It has many features and benefits that will make your 3D printing journey that much easier.
The price point that we expect to see is very competitive considering all the features you’ll be getting. This is a purchase I can recommend for most people out there.
There are some extra features that, I think, should have been put in like Capricorn tubing and a metal extruder, but nonetheless it’s a great machine that should give you a pleasant 3D printing experience. It’s perfect for beginners and even experts.
Get your own Ender 3 V2 from Amazon (or BangGood at a cheaper price) today for a smooth, high quality 3D printing experience.
